WASH
In the face of the current mounting humanitarian need and to contribute to the national and international efforts striving to reduce famine risk; SOUL recognize that adequate access to WASH is an essential component of an integrated approach to tackling poverty, hunger, ill-health and inequality. SOUL would recurrently and reflexively integrate WASH program to help ensure that communities at high-risk of WASH-related diseases have safe access to drinking water, sanitation services and hygiene items by demonstrating rapid and high-quality emergency response, influencing the WASH sector with evidence of our effectiveness, supporting community resilience in disaster prone and fragile contexts and enhancing national capacity to improve WASH coverage for the most vulnerable. Repairing public water networks, transporting water by truck and providing storage containers at the level of the community. Improving water quality surveillance at the level of community and the main water network, providing filters and chlorine tablets for families at risk. Providing operational and maintenance support for sanitation sys-tems in areas at risk, while supporting community-led total sanita-tion programs to address erroneous practices that cause health problems. Building the capacities of volunteers in the community, conducting emergency hygiene campaigns, and distributing basic hygiene supplies, cholera supplies and disinfectants.
